Flaming Fish Weekly Wrap Up - Written mostly by our own Maja!

Math - In math we have been regrouping and borrowing with large numbers. We all had multiple ways for solving each problem. I thought all the Ideas were quite interesting, especially the way each person did it. It was sometimes hard for some people to explain their ideas. What was your favorite part of math?

Reading - For reading each person in the class goes to find a peaceful spot to read. We call this S.R.T. ( Sacred Reading Time). We read for about 20-30 minutes. It is quite enjoyable because you get to read silently without anybody disturbing you. What did you read?

We have also been working on reading and finding the main idea of a piece and supporting our thinking with text evidence. We use “academic language” to begin our evidence sentences. It has been fun, because we get to look up article online that are about a topic of our own choice!

Writing - Right now in class we are rewriting our writing samples. That is where we have a couple of different options to write about. We have to do as best as we can without any help and we get feedback on it. After we got our feedback, we reflected on how we thought we did and then wrote down some ideas on how to improve. Then we rewrote our stories, trying to show our improvements. What did you write about for your writing samples?

Digital Literacy - We are learning how to search for information on the internet. We are learning that some websites are more reliable than others. Things like .org or .gov can be more trustworthy than .com. After finding articles about a nonfiction topic of our choice, we have been writing blogs about what we have found. Check out blogs and see what we are doing. We would love to hear back from you!
