This week, students worked in their groups to write blog posts that reflect some of the learning from their classes. Take a look at their first tries with writing posts.

From Group 1: We have a read aloud in class every day. One of our most recent books was The Twits. This is a hilariously gross book filled with funny pranks and talking animals, like the Muggle Wumps who are monkeys.  They had to stand on their heads for their whole life. The monkeys turned the Twit’s house upside down. It was a prank on Mr. and Mrs. Twit. They did this because every Wednesday Mr. Twit would put super hug tight glue on the tree that twangled all around the garden so that every Wednesday night the birds would get stuck. This let the Twits have bird for their bird pie for lunch the next day. If you could rewrite one particular part in the story, what would it be?

From Group 3: In Art, we made lino prints. We brainstormed a story, then we drew a picture that was about our story that we would draw in our notebook. Then we carved out the picture that we drew on the lino. When we were done carving, we got paint and a rolling pin and rolled it on the lino. After that we printed it on paper. My picture and story was about how my fish died. What was your picture?

From Group 4: This week, we wrote writing samples. There were four choices which were: 1. Writing a story about a real life experience that would be hard to forget. 2. Write about your favorite thing to do in free time. 3. Write about if someone could live without electronics in the modern world. 4. Write a creative story about a van full of bananas. So, if you were to choose which one would you write about?

From Group 5: Our class wrote fish stories that were narrative, informational, or persuasive stories. One member of the group enjoyed making a narrative story about different items in the classroom being weird and made up funny types of fish! The main character in the story was Elmers the sticky fish. Another person in the group made an interesting informational story about angelfish. We wrote fish stories to increase our skills in writing and become a good authors, as we learned about different kinds of text. There were other stories, but if you want to know more, why don’t you check out our books?
